U10 Black Fastpitch

The U10 girls battled hard through the heat and went 4-1 to take 3rd place in the Hartford Tournament.

To start the tournament off they took on the Cedarburg Crush and the girls showed they would be a force to be reckoned with with a decisive 12-1 victory. Addy C lead the team in RBI’s with 2 and Marlee pitched nearly perfect allowing only 1 run and 1 hit with 6 strikeouts. Abby and Breeya also added hits to help the team to victory.

Cedarburg Crush 1 – Bronco Select U10 Black 12

Their second game in pool play they played the Germantown Storm. It was a battle all the way to the end and the tight contest ended in a 3-3 tie when 10U Black scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning. Taylor lead the team with one hit in two at bats.

Germantown 3 – Bronco Select U10 Black 3

This gave them the first seed for bracket play and they lead off Saturday against the Janesville Cyclones. U10 black defeated the Cyclones in extra innings 8-7 off a sweet bunt by Emma on a 1-0 count in the 8th inning. It was an exciting game the whole way and the broncos won despite letting the Cyclones back in the game with a 4 run 5th inning at the end of time to tie it at 5-5. Also the Broncos found themselves down a run twice after the time limit. The Broncos were lead by Taylor with 2 hits in three at bats and Emma with the game winning bunt and two stolen bases as the Broncos ran wild with nine stolen bases. This guaranteed them a game in either the championship or the third place game.

Janesville Cyclones 7 – Bronco Select U10 Black 8

Next up was the New Berlin Magic and the Broncos didn’t have the bats to get out of a deep hole. They kept on fighting though scoring 4 runs in the final at bats but it wasn’t enough as they Broncos lost 12-7. Despite the loss Emma went 2-2 at the plate to lead the team in hits along with 2 runs. Karlie also had 2 runs and 2 walks in the game. Others with hits in the game were Bryn, Taylor and Breeya.

New Berlin Magic 12 – Bronco Select U10 Black 7

The loss meant that they would come back on Sunday to battle the West Bend Lightning and the sweltering heat for 3rd place in the tournament. The Broncos jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the first inning but West Bend proved they weren’t going to go without a fight when Bridget homered on the first pitch of her at bat in the 6th inning to score two runs and tie it up. The U10 Broncos were determined to win this game and won it they only way they know how, Emma ‘Clutch’ Santarelli. With two outs and Breeya at second base. Emma drew the walk and hustled down to first. Due to it being a passed ball Breeya worked her way to third beating the throw. While this was happening Emma made a heads up play and hustled her way around first to go to second. With two outs this is a risky play but Emma has the speed to make it. Seeing Emma going to second the third basemen tried to gun her out. Emma was safe and while the throw made its way to second Breeya hustled home for the exciting victory.
Taylor, Mylee, Breeya, and Karlie each managed one hit to lead the Broncos. They also tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Addy led the way with three.

West Bend Lightning 6 – Bronco Select U10 Black 7

It was a perfect way to end a great weekend of softball.
